Background & Results

Two years ago, there was no organized cross country ski team in China that gave them the opportunity to train, practice and work together in preparation for the biggest international competitions. Things have changed since Per Erik Ronnestrand, former head coach of the Swedish National Team, became the coach of the China XC Ski Team, uniting the best Chinese cross country skiers to train and compete together.

The results have been remarkable. During the 2007 season the Chinese women achieved their best results in the young history of Chinese skiing, with a 4th and 8th place at the World Cup. The same year, the China team was ranked number 10 in the Team Sprint Class of the World Ski Championships and Ms. Wang Chunli took the first individual gold medal at the 2006 Asian Winter Games.

The gap with the top teams in the world is closing rapidly and we look forward to great results in 2008!
