Huangshan International Mountain Bike festival 2007 finished on the 7th of April, and what a tremendeous success it became. 

More then a Mountain Bike event, Huangshan International MTB Festival is, as its name so clearly states, a true festival for the people.

This year over 5000 people, travellers and locals, found their way to the festival area to enjoy a marvelous day under the beautiful clear blue Huangshan sky, with the spectacular Huangshan nature as scenery on the near horizon.
 
During the festival the spectators all followed the races, while enjoying the many barbeques, local and international shows and pagoda tents where one could rest in the shadows and enjoy a beer, or perhaps take a peek at the many stands that different sponsors had placed all around the festival area. If they were not working on their tan.

The races themselves was also as thrilling as one can only hope for. With the japanese number one, TREK's own professional Shinobi Noguchi having to quit the race, it was an open competition between the rest in the male 50km. In the end it was Piers Touzel who won the male 50km, closly followed by chinese bikers Gao Gangzha and Jian Zhihang.
The womans 50km was dominated by chinese bikers, besides a strong second position from Claire Nelson. Chinese Biker Lü Taotao took home the victory while Lan Caichan delievered a strong third place

In the mens 25Km it was all Chinese. After an evenly fought race it was Miao Lilong who in the end managed to win, with Qi Xun and Zhang Jun in second and third.
The womans 25km was won by Wang Xiajian, followed by Tang Lingna and Lv Xiaohui.

The atmosphere around the festival is truly something to remember. All around the start and finish area spectators had lined up to follow the bikers, and cheer ,not only for their favourites, but for all who participated in this one of a kind Mountain Bike event.

Over 30 nations, from Argentina to China, was represented under the festival, and with quotes as this heard all around the festival, one can not doubt that they had a great time
