It is now about 2 weeks since the last stage of Tour De Ski China took place in the footsteps of the former emperor Genghis Khan's in Inner Mongolia. Thereby the first TDS China and the sixth Vasaloppet China is history! But with no doubt Nordic Ways, and all the skiers have a fantastic event and unforgettable experience to look back to. And even better, a sequel to look forward to, because there will for sure be a TDS and a Vasa in China next year also.
Except from the skiing, TDS has been a great experience and a big adventure for the skiers. They have visited 3 different provinces, they have been mingling with locals in Shangri-la, photo shooting with mongolian wrestlers, and spent around 15 hours in the Chinese air, flying a distance of in total 8344 km. Yes, China is a very big country!
Not to forget, they have participated in Vasaloppet China 50km!
The Chinese version of Vasaloppet in Changchun is continuing its growth just as previous years, this year as many as 22.206 participants from 21 countries were skiing in the tracks during the Vasa China week, which is an increase of around 6000 people since last year. The students from different universities in Changchun represented a big amount of those skiers. And a nice surprise was to see many young Chinese skiers participating in the 50km and the 16,7km race, that is promising for the future!
Thanks for this year! And all the best for 2008!
..and if you want to be part of the adventure for next year, sign up for Vasaloppet 2009, the online registration is already open.
