A Grassland Marathon was on the program for the last day of the adventures in Inner Mongolia 2008. Yang Meng was the strongest man today and finished the full marathon in 2:24:20. About five minutes later, Bai Bin entered the finish area, and after another four minutes and a half, Liang Guoqing finished as number three.
In the half marathon, Li Lei was the fastest man with a time of 1:06:54, just 2.5 minutes before Darren Benson, the silver medalist from the bike races earlier this weekend.
The women’s half marathon was won by Yang Jing, that finished in 1:14:35. Yang Jing was outstanding since she beat her fastest competitor with almost 20 minutes. However, Zheng Rufang, with 3 days of mountain biking in her legs did a good race and was the second lady to cross the finish line.
It was a beautiful day in the green grasslands with blue sky that made the tracks a stunning experience for the runners. A great finish for the event, and a new sports event for the small city Xi Wu Qi to be proud of.
