2009 FIS Tour de Ski China Shangri-la stage competition was successfully concluded yesterday at Shangri-la Ski Arena. This is the second time Shangri-la hosts a Tour de Ski China stage since it did successfully last year. The skiers and FIS officials gave praise to Shangri-las folk spirit, natural beauty, high standard ski arena as well as its excellent hosting and organization. Nordic Ways International AB, competition organizer and responsible for bringing this competition to China, also gave outstanding remarks to Shangri-la.

Nordic Ways has already been a player in the Chinese market for over 10 years and has successfully organized many non-Olympic sports events, and has brought many outdoor sports event to China which has gotten wide attention in the country.Here, Nordic Ways is a well-known International events company focusing on sports promotion.

Its founder and honorary president, Mr Gavert Waag repeatedly expresses that the Diqing highland is a very fascinating place, the people of Shangri-la are very friendly, its natural resources abundant. Especially now when Shangri-la has built a ski arena with top facilities, it has the ability to host big international events. Through this, Shangri-la can not only strengthen its local competitiveness, but more important is that the international athletes help in promoting the brand name Shangri-la in broader circles and attracts people from all over the world to come here.

Mr Waag explains that the future of cooperation between Nordic Ways and Diqing County is bright. Nordic Ways is going to host more events and have a broader cooperation together with Diqing because the natural environment is very suitable for development of outdoor sports events.   

Mr Song Tao, Chief of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Region Sports Bureau says that Nordic Ways is an internationally well known sports company. Taking FIS Tour the Ski China to Shangri-la has not only brought the world closer to Shangri-la, but hosting this high level event also lets sports do other things, like letting Diqing region learn and exchange ideas with other countries. It also expands and strengthens the brand name of Shangri-la in the world.

The red spring festival banners on the port over Shangri-la Ski arena reads: “The southern snow landscape attracts top skiers from the four seas to Shangri-la, the people of the highland invites travelers and traders from the five seas to the ancient trade route town” This expresses the Diqing peoples’ aspirations for hosting top level events….
