Vatternrundan is the largest recreational bicycle race in the world which started in 1965 as a physical experiment.Now, thousands of bikers come every year to the Swedish town of Motala to take part in the ride which goes 300 km around Swedens second largest inland lake-Lake Vattern.The 2009 registration for the Swedish Vatternrundan is already full, over 2 months before the race!

Vatternrundan was brought to China by Nordic Ways in 2007. It has been held in Changbai Mountain for the last two years. But in 2009, it will move to Yuxi, Yunnan;a province famous for its minority people with colorful clothing , folk song and traditional customs.

Vatternrundan China will go around the mythical Lake Fuxian at the town of Yuxi.The main race will be on September 5th with a Childrens race. A Club and University relay is scheduled for sept 6th.

The course will, according to the Vatternrundan tradition, stretch about 180 km around this beautiful lake. Participants will also have the chance to go sightseeing and experience the local culture.

Fuxian Lake is located in Yuxi City, rising 1,720 meters above sea level and encompassing 212 square kilometers of land. The deepest part of the lake descends 157 meters, the second deepest freshwater lake in China. Beautiful scenery, spring-like seasons and many cultural relic sites around the lake are combined with a unique fishing culture
