Hundreds of middle school kids took part in a short 2.5km race after the start

9:00 Race Start

Bernt Johanssson, Olympic Champion from Sweden was in the big leading group the whole race. He finished 25th in the end.

The race had many steep up hills and fast down hills

Some took it too fast in the first tricky down hill...

The road on the east side of the lake had been finished just the day before the race to give the bikers best possible conditions. It was originally scheduled to be completed first in October.
